Here's my issue with this — on this app (POF), you can set criterion for who can send you messages based on an age range. My 21-year-old roommate has hers set to exclude anyone over the age of 25. This individual, it would seem, has lied about his age in order to send messages to younger women whom he would otherwise be unable to contact.
What little autonomy and control we have over these apps is further eroded by this sort of deception. Is it the biggest deal in the world? No. Obviously his tagline discloses his real age. But still, it speaks to the almost predatory nature of some of these apps and sites, where deception at first blush is commonplace.
